It's been one week since my mom arrived to help out with the baby. It's been such a blessing to have her here. Yesterday was the first time I changed Abigail's diaper since going to the hospital to have Brayton! It made me think about what other things I haven't done in the past week: getting up with the girls (usually at 7am), making them breakfast, cleaning up of any sort - dishes, laundry, bathrooms, floors, picking up toys, etc., cooking, more dishes, yard work (yes, she planted hostas and lilies that a friend gave me), giving the girls their baths, brushing teeth, and getting them ready for bed, etc.

I've gotten to take a nap at least once a day after getting to sleep in, sometimes until 9:30am! I haven't slept that long in, well, forever! She loves taking the girls out to the playground for HOURS. They made a fort in the basement. They put on a magic show for Jeremy and me. She plays toys with them. They did amazing chalk drawings out back. They've raked leaves and jumped in the huge piles. She burps and changes the baby for me. She serves me ice cream at 11pm while I snuggle with Brayton. She made salt dough ornaments, an apple pie, finger paintings, and had the girls ready for the day all before I even ate my breakfast!
She'll be here for 4 more weeks. I just don't know how I'll survive without her. It will be a big adjustment when she leaves I'm sure, but for now, I feel so so blessed to have my mom with us.

And all the while, I just have to worry about feeding our little boy.

Hooray for Moms. I'm glad she gets to stay so long with you.
Aren't moms awesome? I'm glad that you are getting to just relax and be a new mom. I think that is something that every mom deserves though very few actually get to have it...so thank you Edna for being and awesome mom and grandma!
That is really cool that your mama is there to help out. And I'm sure you'll do wonderful once she has to go, but for now, enjoy the help :)
Wow, how perfect to have so much help as you adjust to life with your new little one! Little Brayton is so cute-- makes me want to have one RIGHT NOW :)
