Articles of Faith

When I was four years old, my mom taped me repeating all 13 Articles of Faith (A of F) from memory. We learned these throughout the year in Primary. I thought it would be a good idea to have Madeline do the same this year. We have the Children's Primary Songs (click on link and scroll down to "A of F" to find the song...or just enjoy listening to any song from the song book) on CD and each A of F is put to a tune. Maddie learns so well through song (she can spell her whole name, list off the days of the week, and is learning her phone number through the tune "Oh My Darlin"). My plan is that each month we'll work on a new A of F (and of course do two in one month so she'll know all 13 by the end of the year). Here's a video of the 1st Article of Faith, which states, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in his Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." How have you helped your children memorize things? Songs are a great method for Madeline and I look forward to learning how Abbie and Brayton will learn...

We use songs to teach Brayden the Articles of Faith as well. I think Sister Watkins was inspired to put these words into song. I love Primary music!

That was great. You're such a great mom. I think music is a great way to teach kids things like their address and phone number when they are young. It always seem to stick longer when it is associated with music. And Happy Birthday Maddie. I can't believe how grown up you are, your song was beautiful.

We focused on the AofF last year in primary. We used the songs. Even the very little ones could do it. I think the songs is the way to go. They will never forget them with the songs.

Songs are a great way to teach things and Maddie did beautifully. I'm not sure what the AOF really are but it seems as if she's learned it beautifully.
Bailey has always learned really well with music. Vaughn, not so much. He's decided that the words are not the important part, the melody is, so he just makes up any sound that he wants and sings it to the music. We call this the Mike O'Neil syndrome. Anywone that heard Mike in our band would understand. Books are his learning key...read it to him and he'll remember. Funny how different kids learn.

Cute! To answer your question on my blog...my abs hurt for days! I would go to stretch out, and go OW OW! Todd thought I was a sissy, but he didn't do wall sits and a million crunches on and off the ball in one night. She really worked us GOOD!

Neat idea. Wow, from that video, I can really tell how much Madeline has grown-up since I saw her last. Time flies!
