Whew!

We made it into Dawson Creek last night at around 9pm and decided that a hotel with a pool would be the best option for everyone...Abbie LOVED the waterslide! Jeremy and I took turns taking her down with us and she just had a blast. Madeline wasn't so sure, but she did like floating around in the life preserver in the shallow end of the pool. We met a nice family in the pool who were also travelling to Anchorage to be stationed at the Air Force Base there. They thought we were crazy to drive all this way with the kids (they had older boys and came from Florida!). We completely agree.
Getting to swim was a nice treat since we were in the car for the last 1245 miles straight! We did take a 3 hour nap in a campground, but that's all the sleep we got outside of a car until we got here. Oh yes, and we'll be driving another all-nighter to North Pole today. We've got about 1400 more miles, so we're figuring we'll be there Tuesday night sometime...

Mountains around Banf. I got the 3-9am shift driving through here and it was amazingly beautiful watching the sun come up. It just feels so good to be in this wilderness again.
Here's a view of the packed car. The DVD (pink thing in front that the girls' gaze is glued to) has been a big help...although, Abbie likes to put her foot on the screen which makes Maddie scream.

Just one of our many shots of wildlife. Mountain goats, grizzly bears, black bears, deer, moose (finally!), dall sheep....it's been fun spotting big game and not just cows and horses :)

We set up the tent for a short nap. We all slept like logs and then while Jeremy packed up camp, I took the kids to the playground. Canadian campgrounds are the best - clean & stocked outhouses, stocked woodpiles, spacious and clean camp sites, and now playgrounds!

Your post brought back some my memories of the Alcan! Love it!

Although my first time was in February. We drove two cars and Jake pulled a overloaded unstable trailer. And... I was nursing Sam! Steamboat Mountain was a nightmere. And it was crazy cold. But a giant adventure nonetheless!

Our next time was driving to North Pole a couple years ago and we had only one vehicle with a travel trailer and all the time in the world to enjoy the trip. And the military paying our per diem. That adventure was much easier. ;)

Hope today and tomorrow go great! I'll be thinking of you!

So happy to hear you guys are close, and very happy to hear safe and sound, just exhausted and probably done traveling right about now. Have a safe rest of the journey and we'll be talking to you (face to face even) soon! *HUGS*

Just checked in to see how things are going for you when I was surprised to read that you think you'll be here this evening...wow! Thought you guys would take it a bit slower and rest more but I ain't complaining, just means I'll get to see you sooner. Don't worry, we'll give you a few days to rest up and then you wont be able to hold us off any more. Even Bailey is chewing her nails waiting on you. :)

Glad to hear you guys are still alive and doing well on your drive. What little troopers you guys have! When are you coming to Anchorage? Hopefully we won't pass each other on the highway!
